Turangawaewae is a Maori concept that translates literally to mean ones place of standing (standing place). Turangawewae refers to places that we connect to, feel especially empowered and connected in. They are our home, foundation, and personal place in the world. The external world can be seen as a reflection of our inner sense of security and foundation also. We often choose an environment that we are comfortable in or feel we need to be there for a reason. It is this idea of a place of belonging that i will investigate through a means of photography in Wellington.
